Forsaken By My Mate – Chapter 1

Damon Moore, my mate, was the Redmark Pack’s bravest patrol chief.

Meanwhile, I was kidnapped by a rogue he had exiled. The rogue strapped a bomb containing a large amount of wolfsbane onto me.

He yanked my hair violently and said, “You’re Damon’s mate, aren’t you? Tell him to get over here right now!”

I tried to create a mind link with him. I tried once, twice… And he blocked me 99 times total.

I was forced to call Damon for assistance, but when he answered, he sounded very annoyed.

“How many times do I have to tell you not to call me when I’m on patrol? Are you done yet?”

I quickly explained, “Damon, I’ve been kidnapped. They want to get revenge on you. Please don’t come.”

Before I could finish, the rogue grabbed the phone from me. Damon’s voice boomed over the phone.

“Daisy Smith, have you lost your mind? I told you I was on patrol, and you pull this stunt out of jealousy? Did you know Mira’s pet snow wolf has been stuck in a tree for three days?

“If we don’t rescue it soon, it will die! And you tell lies like this to get me to come to you? Why not say you’re going to die in the next second, too?”

I looked at the bomb strapped to my body; the countdown had come down to the final five minutes.

“I…”

“Enough! I do not want to hear another one of your ridiculous lies. She adores that wolf like it is her child.

“If something happens to Mira because I fail to save her pet wolf in time, then you’re a murderer, Daisy! I won’t forgive you for that!”

What a joke. That so-called trapped snow wolf had just jumped onto the slanted old pine tree in her courtyard, curling up on a branch and basking in the sun.

It was not even entrapped. It didn’t feel like coming down.

“Thanks, Damon! You’re amazing! My little snow wolf is safe now!” The call ended with a tone.

The rogue cursed. “What rotten luck! Damon doesn’t care about this woman. I got the wrong hostage!”

After they stormed away, I stared at the bomb strapped to my body, and tears streamed down my face. Even the rogue saw the truth, but it took me until this point to realise it for myself.

Damon referred to “Mira” as the widow of his deceased brother. She was also his childhood sweetheart.

When I first met Damon, he explained that Mira Ferguson was his sister-in-law. His brother had died, and as the older brother, he felt obligated to help care for her, which I foolishly believed.

But by the time I noticed their unspoken intimacy, I had already fallen too deeply in love to leave. Damon would rush to her side as soon as Mira called, regardless of what was going on.

Even during our first meeting, Mira called and said, “It’s going to rain, and I’m scared to be home alone during a thunderstorm.”

He abandoned us all and rushed straight to her. He simply said, “Something came up,” and then left without saying anything else.

I tried to stop him by wrapping my arms around his waist. I begged him with teary eyes to respect my family, but all he did was sneer.

“Mira and I have always been like this since we were kids, Daisy. If you can’t handle that, you can cancel our Mate Bond!”

I kept convincing myself that he thought Mira was his sister and that I was his only true mate. But in the final few minutes of my life, I saw things clearly.
