Forsaken By My Mate – Chapter 11

In that moment, the numbness he’d been wearing for weeks came crashing down.

“Richard, Anita… I was wrong.” Tears streamed down his cheeks.

“I loved Daisy. I really did. I wish she could come back… I’d trade my life for hers if I could. What use is this Golden Warrior medal to me? All I want is for her to come back to me.”

A year later, Damon was getting ready for the Mate Bond Ceremony with Mira. To be more specific, Mira was enthusiastically participating in all of the planning.

Damon, on the other hand, devoted himself entirely to patrol team duties, working himself to the bone.

Anthony was deeply concerned about his condition and attempted to persuade him to rest.

Damon, however, refused, getting lost in piles of paperwork taller than a man. In some ways, he resembled a ghost more than I did, holed up in his office every day and haunting it.

I continued to follow him for the past year, unseen by everyone.

I saw him pretend to be fine during the day, only to burst into tears at night as he clutched my photograph.

He repeatedly whispered that he loved me, followed by tearful apologies.

But my heart felt nothing, including hate.

I just wanted to leave.

I racked my brain, trying everything I could think of to get myself free, but nothing worked. Some strange, invisible force kept me bound to him.

I gradually fell into despair. Perhaps Damon and I were doomed to this twisted bone. Maybe I won’t be free until he dies of old age.

I laughed bitterly at the thought of having to watch him and Mira love and laugh together on a daily basis.

What sin did I commit to deserve this deplorable punishment?

Anthony finally had enough and reported Damon’s condition to James-the Gamma. Damon was forced by James to take a month off in preparation for the marking ceremony with Mira.

Mira had long since announced to the entire patrol unit that she and Damon were going to be bonded.

Mira promised Damon a year ago that she would become his mate in order to repay him for saving her after the explosion. She had conveniently forgotten that she was once my sister-in-law and the widow of Damon’s brother.

Their relationship sparked a lot of gossip. However, people gradually came to accept Mira as Damon’s mate. Mira clung to Damon every day, hoping to have the ceremony as soon as possible.

Damon, tired and irritated, reluctantly agreed. Mira was overjoyed when she found out Damon had a month off. She immediately dragged Damon to the mall to select the wedding gown she would wear for the ceremony.

Damon, distracted and indifferent, let her do whatever she wanted. Mira enthusiastically invited her childhood friends from her pack to assist them in selecting bridesmaid dresses.
