After ten years of being happily married, the hospital suddenly told me that I had two pup.
When the hospital called, I couldn’t believe what I heard.
I could hear the healer’s soft voice on the phone. “Ms Brown, the health check results for the two pup have come in. They have been sent to your phone. Please go and look.”
I was shocked to my core. I mindlessly agreed with what the caller said and opened the reports after I hung up.
When I saw “Ryder Jones” as the pups’ father, I couldn’t think of anything else.
As I quickly looked through the papers, another name stood out to me. Chloe Anderson, Ryder’s ex-girlfriend, was the mother of the pup.
The reports’ contents hit me very hard. I read the document over and over to make sure I wasn’t wrong. I went straight to the Alpha’s office after making sure that my eyes weren’t playing tricks on me.
I had to ask Ryder about this right away.
Ryder’s Beta was waiting by the office doors. He was surprised to see me coming.
“Luna Zoe, why are you here at this hour?” he asked in shock.
I nodded back to him. “I need to check something with the Alpha.”
I pushed past him and went right in, even though he tried to stop me.
“Alpha Ryder!” I yelled.
Ryder hung up right away and turned to look at me.
“Why are you here? Did you miss me?” he asked in a friendly way.
He always talked to me softly, like there was nothing wrong, and it made my blood boil.
I laughed coldly and said, “Whose pup are these? You’d better explain yourself.”
I held up my phone to show him the report while I talked.
Ryder’s face turned white right away when he saw the hospital report. He took a deep breath and said, “That was… an accident. You’re my only Luna. There will never be anyone else. They’re just two pups. Please understand that we need heirs to carry on our pack’s legacy.”
I slapped him in response. No one had ever made me feel this bad before.
That one slap took all of my strength. Ryder’s head whipped to the side when he was hit so hard, and his face swelled up right away.
“You lied to me! Don’t you know why I can’t have kids?” I yelled in anger.
My face was in pain, and tears were streaming down it. The pain and anger that filled me made me shake without meaning to.
Ryder’s cold face quickly warmed up as he rushed to comfort me. “It’s my fault. But Zoe, I’m the Alpha. Our pack needs heirs. It’s just two pups. They won’t change your status as Luna.”
I hit his hand away when he reached out to me. I yelled, “If the hospital hadn’t called me, how long were you going to keep this from me? They’re already nine years old? Why are they nine years old?”
Ryder’s face fell. He looked sad as he said, “Zoe, I’m sorry about this. I just wanted to make Chloe’s dream of becoming a mother come true. When you got hurt, the pack’s elders all told me to reject you. Chloe came to me and said she could help.
“Don’t worry. The Moon Goddess chose us to be together. You are the only one who can be our pack’s Luna.
When I heard what he said, I felt completely defeated. I shook my head and walked away.
“Ryder, I’m very let down by you.”
He thought about it for a second, but in the end, he didn’t come after me.
