This was the sixth request this month. I made the choice to let him come and talk.
Ryder came soon after. I walked into the private room and sat down across from him with a cold look on my face. Looking at him made me think of how naive and young I used to be.
Back then, we loved each other so much. Even though he knew I couldn’t handle pup, he still wanted me to be his Luna.
“Zoe, why did our mate bond break?” His face was pale and his eyes were full of confusion.
“I drank a potion. We’re officially broken up,” I said without much thought.
He begged, “No… Please… Please come back with me,” holding my hands together.
“Go back? For what? To put up with your betrayal and help raise your pups? I’m not a masochist, Ryder.” I pulled my hands away and looked at him with disdain.
“No, that’s not it. I’ve already kicked Chloe and the two pups out of the pack. Please don’t leave me,” Ryder begged.
Ryder had lost a lot of weight in the month since I last saw him. He didn’t have the same royal and powerful presence as before. He looked messy and hopeless now.
I didn’t want to waste my time talking to him. I shook my head and said, “It’s too late. I’ve already broken our bond as friends.”
“I can mark you again. We can rebuild our mind-link! I’ll throw you an even bigger wedding. I’ll let all the wolves know you’ll always be my Luna!” Ryder said.
When I heard that, I sneered. “Did you forget that I’m the Iceclaw pack’s princess? What’s so great about being your Luna? We could never be together again after you cheated!”
Ryder still didn’t want to give up, so he pulled out the hospital report. “What about our puppy? We used to have one. You can’t just leave me like this.”
The pain of losing my dog came back. My anger boiled over, and I hit him hard. “Why do you have to bring that up? I already lost my puppy because you weren’t careful!”
“But we can still have another. I still love you, Zoe…”
Ryder had let me down and made me lose our puppy. He now said he loved me without shame.
I was so angry that I was shaking all over. I turned around and walked right out of the room. The wolves I brought with me kept Ryder from following me.
After that day, Ryder walked around the Iceclaw pack. He even found out where I lived and stopped me from leaving.
“Zoe, I know you’ll be happy in the Iceclaw pack, but I still want to tell you that this is the only time I’ve ever loved you.”
I couldn’t say anything. “You and Chloe already have two pup, and you still say you’ve only loved me?”
Ryder’s face grew dark. “I just needed heirs for the pack. I don’t care about her. I’m an Alpha, and I can’t let the pack go without an heir.”
I rolled my eyes and told the other wolves to pull him away. After that, I sent a message to the leaders of the Nightgale Pack. They moved quickly. Ryder was gone from the Iceclaw pack three days later.
Three months later, I heard about Ryder again. He brought back the two pup and said that the male puppy would be the next Alpha.
But he only let Chloe be the Omega in the pack.
Chloe was an Omega who had turned against the Luna. You can imagine how much rejection and hostility she faced in the pack. Having given birth to the future Alpha didn’t help her at all.
Ryder’s plan had definitely made Chloe’s life even worse.
