The Alpha’s Forbidden Love – Chapter 10

As time went on, it became clear that Oliver did not want to leave Sedona City. He would come to my bakery more often and bring me flowers.

My cousins told me that Oliver was interested in me. They thought the romantic aristocrat would be a good match for me.

I could tell that Oliver wanted to be with me, but I didn’t want to be with him because I was still heartbroken. I just couldn’t start a new relationship right now because I was afraid of getting hurt again.

Oliver was a nice guy. I decided to talk to him to make things clear. We couldn’t be lovers, but I was happy to be his friend.

He was disappointed when I said no to his love and shrugged.

“Skylar, did you know? You were the first woman who made me want to settle down. Before we met, I felt like a bird that was always flying away. But I’d be happy to stay in Sedona City for you.

“I knew you would say no right away because I could see the sadness in your eyes. It was the kind of sadness you only see in people who have been hurt badly in love.

“Skylar, please don’t say no right away. I promise to respect your space. “Let’s be friends for now.”

When Oliver told me he loved me, I was a little annoyed. I said, “I’d love to stay friends, but I don’t want to stop you from travelling.”

He started to laugh. “Oh, dear Skylar, Sedona City is a really nice place. I haven’t had a chance to see what it has to offer yet. You’re not stopping me at all.

“Even if I have to put off my trip for you, know that I’m doing it willingly.”

I had to stop talking about that.

We lived together in peace for six more months, keeping a safe distance.

Maybe one day, when my heart is healed, I can get closer to Oliver. But it would take a long time.

Oliver came by my bakery one day at his usual time and gave me an invitation card. That day, he asked me to a party.

I took the card from him that had the time and place of the party on it. It would take place at a restaurant where my new friends and I often went.

I was happy to go. “Of course.”

There was only Oliver there when I got there at the agreed time.

He stood up and bent down to shake my hand like a true gentleman.

“Father told me to come home because of some family issues. I’d like to have dinner with you before I leave.”

It was a fair request. This time, I didn’t say no to him.

Oliver got me a chair. Someone grabbed my arm and pulled me back just as I was about to sit down.

To my horror, I saw Logan, the man I had tried so hard to avoid. He had broken into the peaceful life I had made for myself after a year.

And I thought that Sedona City didn’t allow werewolves. How did Logan get in?

Logan hit Oliver in the chest and grabbed his arm. Oliver was caught off guard and fell to the ground. When Logan held me, I could feel his hand shaking.

“Skylar is my wife! I’m Logan Blake! You’re just a small-time aristocrat; you shouldn’t even think about dating her!”

Logan then looked at me with a mix of sadness and happiness.

“Skylar, did you know how much I missed you this year?”

I pushed his hand away and helped Oliver get up from the ground. I snarled at Logan. “Mr. Blake, we don’t know each other anymore.

“Isn’t it unreasonable for you to show up out of the blue and beat up my friend?””

Logan looked guilty and said quietly, “Skylar, I’m sorry for the mistakes I made.” Would you please give me a chance?
