Logan walked back and forth in the hallway of Anne’s clinic.
A servant came up to him with Noah.
“Mr. Blake.”
Logan ran over to them.
“Where’s Skylar? Is she at home resting?”
Noah took a letter out from under his coat and gave it to Logan.
“Mrs. Blake said she wanted to go for a walk to clear her head. She left in the horse-drawn carriage three hours ago. She wanted me to give you this letter before she left.”
Logan grabbed the envelope and opened it right away.
“Logan, we’re done. Here’s to losing the love of your life.”
He fell into a daze and even questioned his eyesight for a moment, wondering if he was seeing things because he was so tired.
He read the cursive writing on the parchment again.
No, he wasn’t imagining things. Skylar had really left him.
He crumpled the parchment and fell to the floor, resting his head on his knees. His good looks turned into a sad look.
Logan’s body went into spasms, and a sudden, sharp pain shot through him as if a drill had gone through his core.
Did Skylar break up with him?
How could that have happened? Before the Moon Goddess, they promised to love each other for the rest of their lives.
He began to cry.
Peyton came out of her room and knelt down in front of him. “Hey, I’m sorry. It was my fault. I shouldn’t have fallen in love with you and had your child.
“Logan, go find Ms. Allen. My child and I will be fine.
She got up from the ground and tried to act brave, but she fell down after walking to her room. “Peyton!””Hey!”
Logan hugged Peyton and his voice started to shake.
He heard Skylar’s words over and over again in his head like a curse.
“Here’s to losing the one you love the most.”
Logan was worried about Peyton, who was pregnant with their child, and Skylar, who had left the castle by herself.
He was in a tough spot.
He could only beg Noah, “Noah, look for Skylar with the castle servants. Let her know that I need to talk to her about some important things.
Noah didn’t leave right away. He looked worried and said, “But Mr. Blake, Mrs. Blake made it clear that she didn’t want to meet anyone from the castle, even you.”
At that moment, Peyton, who had just woken up, pulled on Logan’s sleeve.
“Logan, I know you only see me as a toy. The only person you love is Ms. Allen. Don’t be in pain. I’m sure she’ll be at the castle door waiting for you.
“Go find her. It’s okay; my dog can live without a father. I’m okay with any arrangement as long as you and Ms. Allen are happy together forever.”
What a nice and strong thing for Peyton to do! Logan hugged her. “Don’t worry. My son will always be treated like a real child.”
Noah wanted to know if Logan was still interested in finding Skylar or if they should focus on welcoming a new woman into the house. Noah wisely kept his mouth shut, though, because he knew his place.
He left Peyton’s room and carefully closed the door behind him so Logan could have some alone time. He then prayed to the moon for Skylar to have a safe trip.
Peyton was released from the hospital three days later. Logan was finally able to go home to the castle after helping her calm down.
But after just three days, there were no signs of Skylar in the castle.
