The Alpha’s Forbidden Love – Chapter 8

Logan took hold of a maid’s hand. “Where are Skylar’s things? Where is her favourite dress and mug?”

The maid fell to the ground because she was scared. “Mrs. Blake asked us to get rid of them before she left.”

Skylar was the second most respected person in the castle, after Logan. The maids didn’t dare disobey her orders, even when she wasn’t there.

Logan still couldn’t believe that Skylar would be so mean as to leave him nothing to remember her by.

“And how did you get rid of her things?

The maid pointed to the backyard. “I’ve put them all together and set them on fire in the backyard.”

Logan ran out of the castle and saw a pile of things in the corner of the backyard. The fire was licking up Skylar’s favourite things.

He ran over to try to save Skylar’s things from the fire before he could think twice. In shock, the maids gasped and covered their eyes. They could only pray to the Moon Goddess to keep Logan safe from the fire.

Their prayers were not answered. Logan’s hand got burned when he grabbed the clothes that were on fire.

Noah, who is as smart as ever, brought a bucket of water and poured it over Logan’s hand to stop it from burning to ashes.

“Mr. Blake, you didn’t have to do that. Mrs. Blake said she didn’t want those things anymore when she left. What’s the point of saving them from the fire? She’ll never come back to this castle.”

For 20 years, he had worked as a butler at the castle for the Blake family. He saw Logan grow up and saw him have to leave the country when the illegitimate sons came after him.

Noah was there when Logan brought his favourite woman back to the castle. Logan had promised Skylar all the jewels and nice clothes in the castle.

Noah remembered how he used to admire the nice couple and think they would be happy together forever.

Sadly, Skylar’s smile had faded after only five years. She didn’t want to take care of the flowers in her garden anymore.

She didn’t set up the living room for Logan anymore because he came home late a lot.

When did Skylar stop smiling? Was it on that night a year ago, when she noticed a strange smell on Logan’s body after he came home late?

Or was it because she found the red hair strands in Logan’s tuxedo pocket?

Noah’s memory wasn’t very good because he was so old. He saw Skylar lose weight and become quieter over time.

Not even the cutest lamb in the castle could make her smile.

Logan looked at Noah and asked, “Is she never coming back?” He hoped Noah would say it was all a lie.

“That’s right, Mr. Blake. She said she would never come back,” Noah said again.

Logan felt like he had nothing left. He fell to the ground. He couldn’t stop crying. Maybe the sun was too bright.

Still, he wanted to stay there. At least the sun would keep him warm. He wouldn’t go inside his castle because it was cold without Skylar.

He lay there for a while, then suddenly sat up.

“I want to look for Skylar, Noah.”
