Wolves are known for their keen sense of smell, and he quickly detected traces of blood in the air.
Zayden became frantic. “What happened?! Is Sandra okay?!”
A senior and respected elder stepped forward: “Mr. Zayden. We gave Miss Sandra an abortion potion and expelled her from the palace. “We did it for you.”
“Exactly! We ran a check on her. She’s only an orphan. That former comrade you mentioned must be the man she was with!”
“Who knows whose pup she was carrying!” Someone so shameless has no right to be by your side!”
Zayden was furious: “How dare you! How could you harm her?! How could you get rid of her puppy?”
Dahlia quickly stepped forward to prevent him from lashing out: “Zayden, don’t take it out on them! They were simply doing what they believed was best!”
Her words and presence only fuelled his rage, and he shoved her away, saying, “Shut up!” They would not have killed my puppy if not for you! That puppy was not illegitimate! It was my and Sandra’s puppy!”
His eyes were bloodshot as he pointed at Dahlia, who was bleeding profusely after hitting her stomach against the wall. “If there are any illegitimate pups here, it’s your pup!” Not mine!”
Dahlia almost miscarried, but the herbs Zayden gathered helped her have a smooth birth.
She held her puppy and approached Zayden, who had resorted to drowning himself in alcohol because he couldn’t find me.
“Cheer up, Zayden.” It’s just a woman and her puppy. You can get the same things here with me. I can be your companion. My pup can also be yours!
“Look! Our son is so cute!”
Zayden pushed her away. “Scram!” Zayden’s shove was ineffective due to his intoxication.
Dahlia was displeased. Since giving birth, her life had been a living hell. Everyone discovered that she was the harlot who bore the pup of an unknown father before plotting to deprive the pack of its true Luna.
She dared not leave the castle for fear of the judgemental whispers that would follow her.
She wanted to confide in Zayden and beg him to silence the gossipers, but he was too busy looking for me. Zayden’s heart shattered as he realised the trail of blood I had left behind was mine. Unfortunately, the trail ended where my parents discovered me, as they skilfully concealed our tracks afterward.
Zayden refused to give up. He planned to expand his search to other packs. However, a surprise attack by a rogue on the Iron Moon Pack required his attention as the Alpha.
Iron Moon Pack would never understand why this rogue fought so hard. They did not steal anything, and they paid no attention to the Iron Moon Pack’s valuables. Their sole focus was on the Iron Moon Pack’s packmates, and many elders were killed in the battle.
With no idea where I was and the Iron Moon Pack suffering heavy casualties, Zayden felt physically and mentally exhausted. He turned to alcohol to relieve his distress.
After downing another bottle, Zayden swayed unsteadily as he rose and stumbled into our room.
Dahlia, as always, was going through my belongings. She enjoyed stealing my belongings, and after discovering a dress she had never seen before, she put it on without hesitation.
“Sandra, is that you?” Zayden, in a daze, mistook Dahlia for me after seeing my dress.
