The Luna He Chose – Chapter 10

Every day, he returned home empty-handed and broken, and each night he drowned himself in alcohol.

Noah’s parents couldn’t bear to see him fall apart, so they decided to leave the Midnight Bloom Pack and return him to the Lunaris Thorn Pack.

This time, no one remembered to inform Selene.

She awoke the next morning to find the house empty; it was only after questioning the staff that she discovered they had left the night before.

She stomped her foot in frustration, but there was nothing she could do; eventually, she bought her own ferry ticket and dragged Leo along to follow them.

She would not give up on being Noah’s mate.

“Hmph! Attempting to get rid of me? Not so easy. Let’s see how that old hag dares to push me out once I become pregnant with Noah’s puppy!”

Selene gritted her teeth in rage.

Noah’s family’s departure had no impact on my life; however, Rhett seemed amused by their drama and frequently shared updates as if they were funny stories.

“Do you know what?” He said one afternoon as he added fruit to the bowl on the coffee table. “Noah and Selene are holding a Marking Ceremony soon.”

Hearing their names made me pause for a second, but I felt nothing; my peaceful life had already washed away all of those painful memories.

Rhett noticed my reaction and continued, “Noah’s parents were initially opposed to it. But guess what? Selene is expecting his child. “That woman is ruthless.”

I nodded, said nothing, and grabbed a piece of fruit.

Rhett paused, then asked quietly, “Do you still want to hear anything about Noah?””

I answered calmly, “We’re done.” I do not care what happens to him. You don’t need to find out anything for me.” Rhett’s face lit up with relief. “I am glad you have moved on from him.”

After Rhett realised I had truly let go of Noah, he began spending more time at home.

His mother frequently complained to me, “Rhett keeps stealing you from me!” We were supposed to go to an auction together today, and he declined my invitation!”

Despite her complaints, she would happily push me towards him and wink, “Rhett, take good care of Talia, okay?” And there’s no need to come home early tonight.”

It was clear Rhett liked me.

He placed a high bid at the auction and won a moonstone necklace specifically for me.

When he handed it over, I did not accept it.

Instead, I enquired: “Rhett, your feelings make me nervous. I didn’t know you before you saved my life, but you act as if you’ve known me forever. Have we met before?”

He gently looked at me and asked, “Do you remember the boy you dragged from a swamp in the forest ten years ago?””

I paused and looked at him, stunned. “That was you?”

Back then, I got lost in the forbidden forest during a gathering, but just before leaving, I spotted an unconscious boy in the swamp, and it took all of my strength to pull him out and bring him to the Silvermoon patrol team. I never left my name, and I vanished right away.

I never imagined that boy would find me again.
