Noah looked like a demon straight out of hell, and his voice was cold.
“A wench?” What did you two do with Talia?! You both deserved to die!”
At that point, his parents rushed in with the family doctor.
Selene threw herself into their arms, terrified, crying out, “Please help us! Noah has gone crazy!”
The doctor quickly injected Noah with a sedative, which caused him to collapse instantly but only lasted two hours.
Noah awoke dazed, sat up, and looked around in confusion before remembering and attempting to stand.
His father grabbed him and slapped his back hard. “Enough! Talia has died! You cannot bring her back!”
Noah struggled against him, his eyes blazing. “Liar!” Let go of me! I need to find her! She promised me that if she got lost, she would stay where she was and wait for me! She needs to be waiting!”
His mother drew him into a tearful hug, saying, “Talia isn’t waiting any longer. The patrol reported that she had been taken by rogue wolves. “In the forest.”
Noah collapsed to the floor, guilt crushing him.
“I left her there…” I left her alone in the forest. “I killed her.”
Then a knock came from the door.
Noah’s eyes shone as he pushed his mother aside and dashed to open the door. “She’s back!” It must be Talia!”
However, when he opened the door, he found only a mailman.
“Good evening.” Is Ms. Talia here? This letter is from City Hall; please sign it.
Noah froze. “City hall?” Why would they contact Talia?”
He took the envelope, opened it, and was taken aback by what he read.
Inside was a stamped and approved Mate Bond Termination Agreement.
“Talia wishes to sever our bond? That’s impossible; I still feel it. “I—” he whispered.
He closed his eyes and attempted to reach for the mate bond within him.
There was nothing.
It was gone.
Talia had already severed the bond.
I awoke in an unfamiliar villa.
“You’re awake,” said a gentle voice. “Are you in pain anywhere? “You have been unconscious for three days.
It was Rhett, the friendly stranger who had previously driven me to the healer’s office.
I gave him a weak smile and replied, “Thank you. “You saved me again.”
Then my hand moved to my flat stomach: “The baby-it’s gone, isn’t it?”
Rhett’s silence was all the response I needed.
A single tear rolled down my cheek, and I closed my eyes without saying anything else.
The afternoon sun was warm, and Rhett took me out to the beach in a wheelchair for some fresh air.
“Your family has been looking for you for days,” he said. “Do you want to contact them? If not, I can help you leave.”
His words sparked something in me, so I turned to him and asked, “Why are you helping me?”
We were strangers, and he had no reason to save me twice, much less offer to help me escape now.
Rhett looked down with unreadable eyes, “Someone once helped me like this. If she were in my position, I’m confident she’d do the same.”
I looked at him, and for the first time in days, I felt a fuzzy, warm feeling in my chest. I gave him a heartfelt thanks.
“I don’t want anything else to do with them.” “Help me leave.”
Two days later, after I had recovered, Rhett drove me out of the Midnight Bloom Pack territory and into the Lunaris Thorn Pack territory, where he took me to a massive stone mansion.
