Did she think it was all a game to make him look stupid?
He went to Westwood City, the second city Kyra had talked about in her letter, when he landed.
He discovered the guesthouse she had listed when he got there. But when he approached the proprietor, he found out that Kyra had already left.
He was so angry that he wanted to go right up to her and tell her what he thought. He even thought that this was all a trick by her and her friend to mess with him!
He called Tera in a rage, but she couldn’t respond because she was in the middle of surgery.
Jay was angry, but he put it aside and called Frank to find out more about Kyra.
He could no longer completely trust these letters.
He sat in a quiet courtyard in the country and let the sweet spring breeze soothe him down.
He soon felt better. Groups of people were talking and posing for pictures beside the bridge.
An old woman came up to him as he walked by.
“Do you want a picture?” ”
Jay didn’t care for pictures, but he was interested in the ones that were on exhibit as keepsakes.
The woman looked at him in a funny way, as if she thought he was a little weird.
“Sorry, sir. These are pictures of customers. We can’t sell them.
It was only a photo of someone’s back, though.
Jay didn’t care and gave her a hundred-dollar bill. “You got it wrong,” he said. The woman in the image is my wife. I came all this way to find her, but it appears like she left before I got here.
The old woman’s eyes got bigger as she understood.
“Ah, so she’s your wife,” the old woman said with a sad shake of her head. “Be nice to that young lady, young man.” She has a good heart.
Jay didn’t say anything. He just held the picture of Kyra’s back securely as he walked back to the guesthouse.
He sat outdoors in a pavilion late that night, holding her picture in his hands and watching the smoke from his cigarette swirl about him.
He couldn’t stop thinking about his first night with Kyra.
That day, he had broken up with Jenna.
He drank a lot in the pub so he wouldn’t have to go home and see Kyra’s face. But in the end, his friend still thought he was going home and brought him home anyhow.
He drank too much that night and his stomach pained.
Kyra got out of bed to cook him chicken soup, but he was so inebriated that he thought she was Jenna.
It was too late for him to realise what had happened. He could only go along with the mistake and scream out Jenna’s name on purpose.
He could feel Kyra’s body tighten under him and saw the hot tears running down her cheeks without her saying a word.
He closed his eyes tightly and drove himself deeper into her warmth.
Kyra made fun of him in a cold way the next morning.
“Jay, I wouldn’t want you even if you paid me!”
The more he damaged her, the more she wanted him to pay her back with interest.
That was simply her personality. Even when he thought he might have gone too far, her fierce response only made him hit her harder.
Jay didn’t hurry to see Tera when he got back to Eastwood City.
He waited for Frank to call instead.
Jenna continued contacting him, and instead of being thrilled, he was annoyed.
He told her he was on a business trip when he was really hiding out in the house he used to share with Kyra. Then Tera called.
“I’ve gotten the third letter.”
Jay looked down, no longer as eager to hurry over. He stopped for a bit before saying, “I understand.” I’m in a meeting right now. “I’ll come by when it’s done.”
Jay heard a quick knock on the door after he hung up.
His brow furrowed, and he felt uneasy. He had the feeling that something was about to happen.
Frank looked absolutely scared as he opened the door.
“Mr. Grant, I-I discovered Ms. Spark.
Jay’s heart stopped for a second.
“Where?” ”
“At the graveyard.”
The phone that Jay still had in his hand fell to the floor.
He was shocked and his eyes were wide.
“Is this a joke or what? Did Kyra tell you to do this? Where is she? Bring me to her right now! ”
He made fists. “I want to see how much she paid you to lie for her!” ”
Frank didn’t move; instead, he gave Jay the investigation files.
“Mr. This is Ms. Spark’s medical record, Grant. She had cancer in her liver. It was found out more than a month ago.
Jay froze. His body shook, and he almost fell down.
Wasn’t that the ninety-ninth time he had cheated on her right in front of her?
He made fun of her, embarrassed her, and even made his friend wear Kyra’s nightgown simply to make fun of her.
“Okay? It looks better on her than it ever did on you, right? I think this is the ninety-ninth time. You still won’t consent to the divorce after all this? ”
The memories hit him like a punch to the stomach.
Her face had been so pale, and she had been getting thinner and more worn out every day.
He made fun of her and made her feel bad.
A severe pain in his chest made it hard for him to breathe.
He never anticipated it would feel like this to hear that Kyra was dead!
