Twisted Vows – Chapter 5

“Brother?Jayden laughed. “You are not her brother. Since when has her father had another son?”

“You! Jayden, watch your mouth!”

“It’s you who should be careful,” Jayden said, approaching Luka, his presence chilling the room. “Victoria is my wife.” She’s in prison. Her father’s and her son’s bodies are mine to handle!”

“He’s not only her son! He’s your son, too!”Luka clenched his jaw.

“You know he isn’t my son. “Don’t pretend you don’t.”

“What are you talking about?”” Luka grabbed Jayden’s shirt. “How dare you insult Victoria like that!”

Jayden’s long-suppressed rage erupted, the veins in his forehead bulging as he swung his fist, landing squarely on Luka’s face. “Luka!” I’m tired of putting up with you! And now you have the nerve to come here and confront me?”

Luka couldn’t even comprehend the sheer force of Jayden’s punch; all he knew was that he was instantly knocked to the ground, as if it hadn’t been a human punch but a machine powered by an unstoppable force.

After wiping the blood from his face, Luka slowly stood up, his legs trembling.

“Your obsession is terrifying, Jayden. You used to adore Victoria and couldn’t even raise your voice at her. You wouldn’t let any of us make fun of her in school because you couldn’t bear seeing her hurt or scared. But, how could you treat her like this?

“You’ve been cold to her, insulted her, humiliated her, and pushed her to the edge. How could you once lift her up and now stomp her into the ground? Do you even realise what she’s done for you?

“Even after you turned against her and mistreated her, she never changed. She’s never stopped loving you. Jayden, you will regret this one day. You’re going to regret it.”

Regret?

Jayden had made up his mind about vengeance from the start, and he would never regret it; he couldn’t let himself.

Victoria was sentenced to a year in prison.

Luka never looked for him again; there was no point in attempting to talk things out.

Luka went to see Victoria: “I’ll fight for you in court!” I’ll get Wyatt’s remains back!”

Victoria gently stroked her slightly rounded belly and shook her head calmly. “Don’t, Luke. Wyatt is currently with me. He’s returned to be my child again. Let it go. After my father donated his organs, the organisation will arrange for his burial. He will be at peace.”

Luka stood outside the glass wall, clutching the phone. “Victoria, do you really have to have this baby?””

“I will be out in a few months. You need to help me keep it a secret. Jayden doesn’t care whether I live or die, and he won’t come to see me. Once I have this baby, I will need you to take him away. Luka, my only good eye is also going blind, but I’ll hold on. I just want to see the child’s face.

“My father left me some money, which is now in my account. You can withdraw it and use it to care for Wyatt; I calculated that it will be enough to support him until he reaches adulthood.

“Do not worry about me. Wyatt was previously unhealthy, most likely due to my poor eating habits while pregnant with him. Now I’m eating a lot, and this child will be healthy. I am just afraid of burdening you.”

Luka clutched the phone, tears streaming down his cheeks. “Don’t say that. I will find a donor for your cornea transplant. If I had known Jayden would end up like this, you should never have-”

“I don’t regret it.”

Luka swallowed the lump in his throat and remained silent.

Jayden was convinced that once Victoria got out, she would come crawling back to him. She had nothing left, and because they were still married, she couldn’t remarry. If she didn’t return to him, where would she go?

She had always been timid and sheltered since childhood, having never experienced anything difficult; after being kidnapped, she couldn’t leave the house unless she was with him. How long could she survive?

As Jayden considered it, he smoked more furiously, filling the CEO’s office with a thick nicotine odour.

She had never been through any real hardships, except for the kidnapping, which made her even more afraid. Later, he brought all of the chaos into her life.

However, he refused to admit or acknowledge it.

The office door swings open.

Jane walked in, holding Nora’s hand, and immediately began coughing from the thick cloud of smoke, her brow furrowed. “Jayden!” Why do you smoke so much?”

Nora started coughing, which enraged Jayden, who yelled, “What kind of mother are you? Bringing her into a smoke-filled room like this!”

Jane froze, stunned by his outburst.

Jayden stomped out his cigarette, grabbed Nora, and stormed out of the office.

Nora wrapped her small arms around his neck and whispered softly, “Daddy, I’m not scared of the smoke.”

Jane had not stopped since teaching Nora to call him “Daddy.”

Jayden walked into an empty conference room and placed Nora on the table.

He looked at her. She was his daughter, even though he couldn’t remember how he had ever ended up in bed with Jane. But the paternity test didn’t lie, and he had gone to three different labs to confirm it before he could accept it. Whenever he felt overwhelmed, he would quietly study Nora’s face, and it always managed to calm him down a little. He couldn’t help but see traces of Victoria in her. Those bright, watery eyes reminded him of Victoria when she was 13, right?

“Sweetheart, you should take care of yourself, okay? If you know smoke is bad for you, don’t walk into a smoke-filled room.” “But I missed you, Daddy.”

Jayden stroked Nora’s cheek, his thoughts turning to Wyatt.

Was it a coincidence that all of the children appeared to resemble one another?

Nora and Wyatt both called him Daddy.
